Title: RE:Sony ICF 2010 MIB on ebay goes for big bucks
Post by: Skipmuck on April 03, 2016, 1529 UTC
I can't believe what this sold for! I wish I hadn't sold mine in the 90's.....it was a great portable and the synchronous detection was unique for a portable at that time.

Amazing.

An NRD-545 NIB could probably fund a college education.

Well, contrary to this extremely rare occurrence, 2010s
are not generally going for this much if they are in new or
near new condition with open box.  And arguably there are
other radios -- notably the Eton E1 -- that actually surpass
the 2010.

Don't forget, the 2010 used an AM stereo decoder IC as part of its sync detector and can easily be modified to receive c-quam transmissions  ;)

I wonder how much Jay Smilkstien's uber-modified ICF-2010 would fetch?

Much more if a QSL from reception of WABC in the Mt Kisco A&P was included.

Fansome says he will exhume it from Jay's resting place if Ganja can guarantee him Jay's love goat in exchange. Al says he'll be waiting in front of his house for you guys to pick him up, with a paper bag on his head and a shovel in his hands.
