I was even farther ahead of the curve on this one...when the bubble gum anthem "Sugar Sugar" by the Archies came out in 1969, I very promptly hated it...even at 14 years of age, I could see that there was no way you could possibly like this song and still be cool... 8) In my neighborhood, it was a health risk to admit to owning the 45 RPM... :-X

There was a certain 1910 Fruitgum Company song in the same period that if you made just a slight change in the lyrics, could cause you all sorts of trouble at my school if you sang it about our music teacher within his earshot.

Now I can't get that song out of my head! Thanks! There are a few "songs" that, once you hear 'em, just try & get it out of your head! Oh & ad.'s, too. "1-8-7-7 cars for kids". Uggghhh! Other songs like "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes", despise it, though "Wooden Ships" is good. The theme music to "Family Guy", sooo catchy & yes insidious to my short-term memory!  8)

I can't thank you enough for that, Pigmeat.  It just displaced "Driving in my car beep beep" for the day.

Dayum, not bad, but it's high in saturated fat and low in free range fructose...

"Look at the bacon!"

Not to evangelize too much, but I switched to a low carb way of eating about 15 years ago. I'm happy, and my doctor was happy at my last physical earlier this year. Win - Win.

And yes, bacon is involved  ;D

I'm on board too, Chris.  I did Atkins for about a year back in 2003.  Then I did Dr. Fuhrman a few years back who preaches max fruits and vegs and min animal products.  Now I have found a comfortable balance in between the two.  Bottom line - eliminate the sugars, the salts, the glutens, and the processed foods - and eat what is left.  That's pretty much a low-carb diet.  I went from four HBP pills/day and 1000 mg Metformin/day to NO DRUGS and feel a whole lot better.  And yes, I still eat bacon too  :D

Bacon is proof that God loves us.

Non-Baconators, join us on the oinking side. Moses merely got some undercooked ribs. Arnold Ziffle compels you.

I've been married to a vegtabletarian for years, but tofu is where I draw the line. Those and rice cakes. If I wanted to eat styrofoam, I'd buy a convenience store cooler.

Continuing along these lines...

This study 40 years ago could have reshaped the American diet. But it was never fully published.

"The Minnesota investigators had a theory that they believed in — that reducing blood cholesterol would make people healthier. Indeed, the idea was widespread and would soon be adopted by the federal government in the first dietary recommendations. So when the data they collected from the mental patients conflicted with this theory, the scientists may have been reluctant to believe what their experiment had turned up."

"reluctant". As in, let's bury the data that doesn't back up what we already decided was the correct answer.

From the Washington Post story:

Quote
It's not exactly clear why the full set of data from the Minnesota experiment was never published.

So it isn't "clear"?  You don't think it has to do with Federal grant money seldom is given out to failed experiments!!!

Change the data to fit the predetermined out come to continue that fed grant money...  like a certain BS pile being dumped on the whole world today about... oh crap... I give up... OFU Al Gore!  Al the Bore must be on a low carb diet because without carbs the brain dries up and blows away...  you ever notice how slow he (AL G) talks?  He went to College for a divinity degree but dropped up...  That proves there is a GOD!!!! (I can change data and history myself...)  ;)

We are suppose to stop eating red meat because cows phart too much!  But when we start eating veggies only we replace the phart gas that cows would normally give out...  These people don't have a single logical brain cell in their heads.  They are the robber barons...  This isn't science it's a big bag of phart gas....  grrrrrrrrrrr  ::)

Phart gas could be the only 'real' answer to the 'energy crisis'...  take that!!!

Damn it all... where is that raw hamburger meat... I'm freekin' hungry...   ;D

I am a life member of PETA  BTW.  PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals...

Thanks for a topic that got me onto this rant... I feel so much better now...  Raw hamburger meat and a quart or two of baked beans will make my day ....  hah~!  Oh damn...  I was waving my arms around so much I knocked over that big box of electrons again... <sigh>  If those electrons were 'green' perhaps I could clean up with 'green technology'... think about it... you think about it because I can't... I'm winded from all of the gas in this small room...  cough cough... gag... lady gag gag... belch...

I draw the line @ temperature: If it's warm blooded I don't eat it. Tuna, salmon, shrimp, etc., no problem.
