S9+20
Egyptian news and music.

I tuned across them on that frequency the other night. I heard the huge carrier and undermodulated audio and said to myself, "That's got to be Radio Cairo."
They might not be technically sound, but they're consistent. Decades of weak audio and counting.

I've only heard them clearly twice since I started listening to shortwave back in 2002. Once was very early on when I didn't know what the heck I was doing, the other was more recent, and that was arguably iffy as I was suffering through some awful distortion to get copy. Manageable, but not at all perfect. Uf da! I wonder just what it would take to fix that benighted setup of theirs? I wish somebody would fly over there and give their engineers a hand, yeesh. I sure couldn't do it, lack of money and major lack of engineering know-how.

It may be a matter of equipment (flexoman61 looks like a person in possession of high quality gear), but knowing that others have trouble pulling in Radio Cairo makes me feel better about not having heard it yet.
