Title: 7415 KHz at 0500 sign on
Post by: ChuckConner on June 19, 2016, 1901 UTC
I hear a station on 7415 KHz signing on at 0500 UTC each night (sometimes a few minutes late!).   There is nothing listed on the EIBI A16 list that matches this station.   It sounds like an African station to me or it might just be programming aimed for Africa.   It has moderate strength most nights.  I've just recently gotten active SWLing again after long absence so I'm having to re-learn DX skills!   Using an Elad FDM-S2 with Wellbrook ALA1530LNP loop antenna.   I'm sure someone else must have heard this and identified it already!   Help?

I believe you are hearing Dandal Kura Radio, a clandestine station broadcasting in Kanuri to Nigeria. It is transmitted from Ascension Island with a 250 kW transmitter/

Thank you RW Observer, that sounds like it exactly!  I just found it in the 2016 WRTH frequency listings (the book), I've been relying on the A16 update on EIBISpace too much I guess!  Really appreciate the help!
