Hearing Z really weak here NW of Denver - but good enough for a positive ID. IDs every 4 seconds or so.

Looked for it late last night around 1130z and again this morning at 1700z and nothing in Australia, although band conditions were quite poor. Jack VK2XQ.

"Z" used to be a Russian cluster/beacon marker on HF transmitting "Z" on CW, it hasn't been heard for many years and the original "Z" is no longer in Russia due to the break up of the Soviet Union.
When "Z" was last logged a few years back it was at Mukachevo, in the Ukraine, it shared similar Russian Naval and cluster beacon frequencies 4 to 20MHz on HF.
Maybe the original "Z" has been reactivated by the Ukrainians? Then again, could be a whole new "Z" from somewhere else. Will tune for it in coming days and see if it displays the characteristics of Russian cluster/beacon markers.
I had a look for it when first posted but heard nothing despite other Russian beacons about at the time. Jack.

Had another look over the past three nighst/mornings 1100-1240z and again 1530-1630z and nothing at all on "Z" 4.175MHz and nothing on the other 4.070MHz CW "NZ". Can presume that these pair are not in Asia as I had the usual M89 Chinese CW stations on 3-8MHz reasonably strong.
