Post by: ChrisSmolinski on January 01, 2017, 1827 UTC
It must be New Year's Day, so time for the annual Shortwave Pirate Radio – A Year In Review, 2016 Edition: http://www.radiohobbyist.org/blog/?p=2056 (http://www.radiohobbyist.org/blog/?p=2056)

Please let me know via a message or email if you see any typos, or anything that should be expanded on.

Thanks for the breakdown, Chris! It's very cool.

One thing I would like to know: You have broadcasts by day of the week, and Sunday is very high. I'm assuming that that's UTC? Actual Sundays in any given North American time zone seem to be low pirate activity days in my brief experience following the logs here.

Another question, regarding the station ID. Relay 5150 is known to relay others such as RFW. I assume that those are counted strictly as Relay 5150 and not as RFW (or other pirates)?

Yes, it's all UTC times and days, so the Sunday activity is (probably) mostly Saturday night.

From the "We'll eventually get this right" department, an update to the article, the list of frequencies used was only showing those with 4 or more uses. I've updated the list to show all frequencies used, even if only once.
