I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread for details of 22 m HiFer operators to share details, operating modes and schedules, and also their monitoring habits.
So to start of off, I run beacon PVC on 13,558.4 kHz from Northern California. Transmitter is a converted and attenuated QRP transmitter kit operated by a memory keyer sending at 5 WPM. The antenna is a sloping dipole with the centre about 20 ft above the house roof with the "legs" sloping downward, oriented approximately NorthWest-SouthEast.
For monitoring, I have a separate dipole at a quieter location in the garden. The beacon is de-activated whilst listening.

I generally listen on a old first generation Icom 756 and a 90 ft. inverted L antenna with home brew transmatch.
My beacon sits about 2 ft from the base of a 1/4 wave vertical with about 36 radials. The beacon is solar powered with
a small charge controller. Beacon id is AA0RQ.
While out hiking around I often carry a portable KA1103 and have heard many of the CW beacons with the portable and its little whip antenna.

Can the HFU Wiki be updated with all the new beacons coming online? It would be nice to have a definitive list for hunting and choosing frequencies and call signs for new beacons.

A very good place to start is the list kept (and maintained up to date) at LWCA: http://lwca.org/sitepage/part15/index.htm (http://lwca.org/sitepage/part15/index.htm). You might have to click on the MedFER/HiFER button at the bottom of the page.
It would be nice to start another list here, as there are some operators and listeners not represented on LWCA.
Cheers

Absolutely! Anyone can edit the Wiki. Log in with the name account name and password you use here on the message board.

As long as we can have the majority of the information in one or, at most, two places it would be helpful. Since the Wiki is user editable I just though it would encourage quick updates.
