Title: Radio Australia 7240/9590
Post by: Zoidberg on August 01, 2010, 1435 UTC
8/1/10
Radio Australia, 9590 audible but fadey; same programming on 7240 but can copy only by comparing with 9590.
1420z: Hearing Radio Australia on 7240.  Not sure how noteworthy this is, but if current sked info is correct I wouldn't normally be in the path for this transmission.  Chatter between OM and YL anncrs
1430z: Blues w/ slide guitar

Very tough copy, 9580 usually much stronger here in morning but off between 1400-1700.

Yup! RA is usually best at my QTH on 9580 as well.

(though 6020 does better for signal, but for some reason the audio is much, much poorer)

Peace!

RA on 9580 is usually pretty good here in Texas and often booms in at S9+ after dawn, even on an indoor antenna.  9590 is generally audible but much weaker.  I think this was my first catch of Australia on 7240 at that time, but I don't often check 40m for broadcasts.  I've heard 'em before in the 49m band but I hardly listen to 49m at all anymore - too much local RFI obliterating that particular band segment, roughly 6000-6300.
