Subject: [time-nuts] Exciting news for the western US eloran to be on the air!!
Quite the opportunity. 3 sites on the air and synchronized so you could
actually do real location tracking. What is amazing is the sites have to
some level been restored to operation. I have heard as an example Dana
Indiana was gutted.
Have fun and enjoy and I will be listening from the East coast.
The Loran sites at Havre, MT; George, WA, and Fallon, NV will be
continuously broadcasting from 0900 (MST) 20 June 2017 through 1200 (MST)
on 30 June 2017. The sites will be operating on the 5990 rate but
occasionally may operate at other rates. Only the site at Fallon will be
operating as an eLoran site. The sites at Havre and George will be
operating as Loran-C sites synchronized to UTC.

In general these are for various propagation and characterization studies
using new eloran receivers by UrsaNav. As an example. How well the signals
received in a modern building. Stuff like that.
The fact that they actually have 3 stations up and synchronized is quite
amazing given transmitters and control chains were trashed in most stations.

Hi, what's the current status of eLORAN globally? It's difficult to
find the latest information on this on the WWW. As I understand it,
there currently exist only two active eLORAN projects, Ursanav/US
gov't in the US, and Babcock Comms/UK gov't in the UK (and possibly
South Korea as well?). I know that the former has operated only one
site in the near past (Wildwood), though the testing period (according
to its website) has expired and I'm not seeing any information on a
continuation. As for the latter, as the recent thread has informed
us, at least one site is active (albeit experiencing some technical
issues), Anthorn. In particular, more detailed information, analysis,
and predictions on these efforts are sought.
A follow up to that confirmed this conjecture.

On which frequencies will these LORAN stations be transmitting? Will there be anything that would be audible on an SSB radio?
