Title: FCC Looks the other way on most Micro Broadcasters
Post by: RadioBrandy on September 06, 2010, 2136 UTC
News from our favorite FCC agent:

The FCC, has sent out an e-mail to agents; advising them, not to hassle FM broadcasters with less than a watt of power. Under the condition that the micro broadcaster is not causing harmful interference and keeping the programming clean.

The reasoning: It does not look good from a public relations standpoint, if the FCC is going after what is perceived by the public as a harmless hobby broadcasting; while ignoring the big boys willfully violating FCC rules without punishment. The FCC has to consider the public's images of itself; when it beats up the little guy; while the big fish like Clear Channel, get away with major rules violations.

In other words: If your FM station, is powered by a Ramsey or EDM transmitter; you need not sweat a visit from the FCC. If you get a visit; you are asking for it! Keep it all clean!
