Title: MARS? 6959.5 USB 2324 UTC 24 Oct 2017
Post by: ChrisSmolinski on October 25, 2017, 1140 UTC

A station calling any station for a radio check, got a reply from an Alpha Alpha something or other (much weaker), so I assume Martians?
Then some other station with a stronger signal. Then a bunch of stations with mentions of teams. Maybe some sort of a radio exercise.

Sounds like MARS to me.  They seem to be very fond of the AA / Alpha Alpha series callsigns and the use of "split" frequencies ending in .5

This was one of the 100+ frequencies assigned for the EX Noble Skywave 2017. I know as I was one of the participants -CIW321.
Several MARS station were participating in this Canadian organized exercise which ran to 1800Z Oct 25th.
