Back when baudot was the norm on hf circuits they used a tape to feed a rtty machine to send a string over and over,
the string would operate every key to ensure the machine had no issues and to keep everything free and lubed, usually a signal consisting of lazy dogs, ry's, and sg's. This tradition still stands in hf ute circles but there are no more rtty machines needing keys to be unstuck or lubed.
