Hi, Group,

I ran across this interesting article highlighting the struggles of a
modern AM station:
http://www.kansascity.com/2011/04/04/2776002/can-am-radio-survive-by-serving.html

Cheers,
Thomas

Scott Fybush -- quoted in the article -- was part of the production
team years back for an independently-produced radio hobbyist radio
program called "Spectrum".

For a couple years Spectrum broadcast live on Saturday nights at 10 PM
from the SWL Fest; one year they carried the grand prize raffle draw
live on air.

Interesting article!

Scott Fybush presented an excellent pictorial lecture about
historical radio broadcast towers and antennas at the NAB conference
I attended in Philadelphia a couple of years ago.  I think he'd be a
terrific guest presenter for the 25th annual SWLfest.

He maintains an excellent website about radio broadcasting history
here:  http://www.fybush.com/
