Maybe some European leaders should propose this before they are shown the door.

Bring back Humpty Doo 5030 !

Past experience with Australian politicians is all vigour and promise when in opposition, when elected their memories suddenly fail. Promise? What promise? Cannot recall that promise... ::)
I will believe it when I actually hear Radio Australia back on air, don't hold your breath for it though... 8)

I think they're talking about restoring only ABC Northern Territories, not RA.

Same response...all full of gusto and hope, yet fail to deliver when elected. The cost of reactivating these services will be huge, also I heard that some of the transmitters were sold off to either African or Asian buyers.
National or International services Radio Australia and Radio National on SW are gone for good, like the Australian railway system, forever going backwards but seldom forward. Vale Radio Australia in all its forms, regional or international... ;D

"I'll say anything to get elected!!!"

One must also keep in mind that servicing the outback regions of Australia is serving remote communities and thus few votes at the ballot box, the pollies here like to cover the big ticket items that attract major capital cities and regional city voters, hence large population centres.
The rural areas of Australia have always received the least amount of attention come election time.
However, yes, it would be great to have those services re-instated but hardly likely is my guess, despite all the Pork Barrel efforts by the opposition to temp votes at the ballot box... ;D
Hence MW station 4KZ near Innisfail running a relay transmission on 5.055MHz AM, they can see a need to fill the void albeit on a easily established set up.
