Another MW band scan nite in the thriving metropolis of East Troy WI  3 Feb. 19 with the Grundig 750 and the Tecsun A-200 tunable loop ( best $25 I ever spent) :

Thanks.   I thought it was probably WABC since the only other 50 KW nite TX'r was KKOB in Albuquerque NM, a station  1789 miles away that I've never hooked (and w/o an antenna update, probably never will).

To be as sad looking as they are, those little Tecsun loops are performers! I've had one about 5-6 years now.

It's funny, I bought that loop so I could get "The John Batchelor Show" on "wAbc". If you've ever seen the movie "Private Parts" you'll get the "wAbc" joke.

That little loop does an amazing job.

Nighttime pattern of KKOB is at right angle and away from you, would be very difficult to pull it out from under WABC.
Your only hope would be to null out the NY station with the loop and try to catch the NM station before it changes to night pattern...
now is the time of year to try it with low static level and weak D-layer. 

CFCO reduces power and pattern at night.  So, if you heard them at night, see if you can DX them daytime.
