Curious how the "war on meat", not based on science, started? There's a good interview here with Dr. Gary Fettke.
In a nutshell:
It started with the Temperance Movement in the 19th century, specifically the Seventh Day Adventists, and Dr Kellogg (of the cereal empire) to reduce sexual desire. The Adventists have been heavily involved in nutritional research and publishing related textbooks, all with their vegetarian/vegan viewpoints. Meanwhile encouraging increased consumption of carbohydrates and sugar. They have strongly influenced the development of nutritional guidelines.

Dr Kellog was big on enemas, enemas for everyone and for anything! A true miracle cure if there ever was one.
Also, with a zillion calves dead in the Nebraska panhandle due the storms, beef is gonna go up at your friendly grocer.

Good God! Mr. Huntin', Fishin' and Harpoonin' Fansome has gone vegan!
Chuck that Carlisle woman out, the Buddhist bitty, and go get a burger. You've gone soft headed from lack of protein, Al.
Josh, all that dead livestock means hot dog prices are going to drop to 1954 levels. Pass the mustard and chili! There's a silver lining in every dead cow!

The only ngo/charity/mlm I admire more than Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is Medicines Sans Pantaloons, Doctors Without Pants!

Just in time for the 2019 Hamfest Season

That Kellogg guy was a real flake.

Sorry Al, I don't have the drum kit set up for rimshot.

Somebody set up us the bomb.

That didn't make a lot of sense, Al, but I'll back you all the way. That's how most of our adventures start.

The other day a large Vegan Rally down in Melbourne, so many of them chanting, screaming, crying and ranting that they stopped the traffic and trams. Usual placards and pictures of baby animals and decrying the consumption of meat, saying farmers are the beasts.
Usual radical left wing tree huggers who are largely unemployed and thus have the time to protest, and draining the public purse via unemployment benefits. Couldn't help but notice that the majority of the protestors were very young women, not many males. Maybe their men folk were watching from MacDonalds whilst eating a triple beef burger? 8)

So AM talk radio sounds the same in AU as it does in USA. ::)

I don't know if he has operations where you are, but here soros employs them, paying far more for their presence at protests than they could ever make per hour at any job they would actually qualify for. Then they're bused to the next city to suffer their odor.

Soros is a globalist, so the same in AU as in USA. ::)

Yes, often the same scruffy faces are seen at alternative protests/demos, commonly referred to as "Rent-A-Crowd"... ;)

I'm all for people advocating their positions on diets, especially if they have some facts to share. But draw the line at trying to restrict my choices, not to mention outright violence, which only seems to happen with certain groups. I may be wrong, but I don't recall hearing about a bunch of bacon eating keto eaters burning down a vegan tofu factory. ;D
Which brings me to lunch today. The store had NY strip roasts on sale, so I cut it into four thick slices, roasted one in a slow 225F oven, then seared in a pan with some butter. Medium rare, of course:

I haven't seen a environmental terrorist story in the news since at least a hundred mass shootings ago... :P

You must have missed the news from Australia a few days ago: ;)

What part of that was violent?

I enjoyed the ones who spent months in tents year round on plywood platforms in redwoods in the Northwest. It was a foolish thing to do, hurricane force winds and torrential snow and rain in the winter, but I gave them points for guts and dedication. One slip when you're pulling supplies up from the support team and that's the end of you.
I didn't like the tree spiking types. Logging is dangerous enough without someone who thinks they're the "Guardian of The Woods" spiking trees and causing one of those heavy duty chainsaws to kick back and cut the operator in half. It's hard to tell how many of the randomly spiked booby-trapped trees are still out there waiting to kill a guy who's just trying to make a living.
Now the PETA girls who would paint their nude bodies like various animals and appear in public places? That should be encouraged.

It wasn't just people carrying signs (that would be perfectly fine), they also broke into meat processing companies.

It's ok for the antifascists to do the same things as fascists yet fancy themselves as antifascists, the end justifies the means you know.
-
Josh, if you want to compare fascists to antifascists start by naming some.
Edit:
Make a list, antifascists on the left 8) fascists on the right :D

Some good news, support for the "EAT Lancet" diet proposal, which promoted essentially forcing the world's population to adopt a nearly meat free diet, is collapsing.
"In a press release, the “permanent mission,” as the office is known, also suggested the report was not sufficiently independent, and aimed for nothing less than the “total elimination of the freedom of choice” by consumers."
“There are few exceptions, but the status of epidemiological literature is not at a level to allow us to make these types of very detailed, specific recommendations,” Ioannidis tells me. For that reason, the health claims in the EAT-Lancet diet are “science fiction. I can’t call it anything else.”
