Title: Northern Relay Service, 6930.3 AM
Post by: DavidB on November 18, 2011, 0229 UTC
Just ran across it, coming in at S-8 to S-9 with no preamps engaged, but struggling against a high noise floor. Seems to be airing some program on the so-called "War on Terror".

Getting halfway decent copy by tuning it in ECSS in LSB. Carrier zero beats to 6930.32 kHz. Airing a program called (I think) "Talking to the World". Hope to have some recorded audio to share later.

Signal coming in fair here, Midnight Oil / Beds Are Burning at 0317z then into talk about value of the dollar. NRS CW ident at 0323z. Talk before the ident and the Punk(?) tune afterwards are pretty rough.

4a.

Relay of Radio Free Manitoba from 0330 to 0400.

ID's and off the air at 0400.

Signal built to a good strong level before sign-off. Carrier gradually drifted down in frequency, ending up at about 6930.23.

11/18/11, 6930 AM, 0315z (approx)
I tuned in just in time to hear Midnight Oil "Beds Are Burning," OM voice ID for Northern Relay Service and nod toward the HFU, and intro to Radio Free Manitoba.  Conditions deteriorated quickly so I didn't catch anything clearly after the RFM IDs.

Once more thanks for the reports gents ! Got some reports from off continent last night as well. I was really having doubts about this cycle a couple of months ago. But now...... 8)

Great recording David B listening to it now and super pleased to be getting into your neck of the woods . Sounds like I was competing with some sort of data transmission as well though.

Just for reference the first show was called "Walking in the woods with storm clouds gathering" . Yes !! Its a mouthful. A compilation of one mans views on current events mixed with music .

By the way we do drift a little bit as it takes a while to stabilize 500 plus pounds of steel and copper even when you are crystal controlled, and we start a little  colder here at this time of year even when I warm up the transmitter for an hour or so prior. So if you thought it was your receiver I am glad to tell you your stable and I am not. In more ways than one. ;D
