Title: Chinese Roulette
Post by: ChrisSmolinski on August 03, 2019, 2337 UTC
I'd like to coin the phrase "Chinese Roulette" for when you plug in a dodgy "Pride of China" electronic device for the first time.

Was sure this was going to be about cat and/or dog being served at City Wok.

I knew a guy who worked in a beer joint that killed himself with a .25 semi-auto pistol in a game of Russian Roulette that was used to shock new patrons on regular basis. The guy who owned the place and the help were convinced the firing pin's action was worn out.

Ol' Dave tried to pull the trick on the pre-lunch Alky crowd one Saturday morning. That low powered bullet went in one side and bounced around, it didn't have enough punch to come out the other. At least he died quick. More proof Darwin was right.

Also ac power cords from China might be checked out with a vom before use, sometimes the hot isn't and the ground or neutral is.

Surprisingly, I have had very good luck with my Chinese purchases. /*knocks on wood*/ Yes, the quality is less (as is the expectation) but most things I've purchased work as expected.

The quality is directly influenced by the market's desire for cheap electronics. It's much more a reflection upon consumers than it is manufacturers.

And as we all know, it's the exact economic pattern that led to crappy radios without knobs.

Where is ol' Knobs Fansome today? Cruising the Florida Straits turning back the penguin menace?

A radio without knobs is like a cake without mustard.
