Hearing a rebroadcast of Jacksonville, Florida NOAA weather Radio on 9330 AM at 2219 utc here in Dallas, TX. Heavy fading, with occasional peaks of intelligible audio.
It sounds too weak to be WBCQ, and I haven't yet heard an ID
-
WBCQ?
-
That's what I thought but it sounds too weak and haven't heard an I'd yet
-
Weak with lots of qrn into northwest AL
-
No audio, now just a weak carrier.

Relay of a NOAA radio station. Still broadcast @ 0700 with reports. This station is like 3333 now @0710. Strong circle. Good to get the information live too. Seem to be a relay of KIH26. 162.400MHz. NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio Daytona Beach FL.
@0800 still broadcasting.
Thnx for the broadcast and 73's and PSE e-QSL

9330.0 NOAA weather Radio WKIA26, Melbourne, Florida, 162.4 Khz. I presume relayed by WBCQ superstation transmitter.
S7 here. Was S9+ earlier (about 2100).
-
2359-50 Weather. Signal fair to good.
-
2358: Hearing it too here. Just above the noise.
0012: "Coastal counties," heard. Still just below the noise.
0013: "Volusia county, severe erosion of beaches, low lying areas along the river," heard. Hard copy. No ID yet.
-
Finally able to hear it at 0002 UTC, only S1 in NY (not moving needle, only audio)
-
0003 UTC - hearing this on Denton Hill kiwi in Fenton, MI. S7 to S9 at times. Very low QRN. SIO 343.
-
I had to leave for work, so I've since turned the radio off. Did anyone ever hear an ID? I know WBCQ is supposed to be on this frequency, but they recently returned their new transmitter, I believe, and I didn't see any info or schedule for 9330 on their website.
-
0110 - Still going here. Just heard flooding forecast for Seminole County Florida
-
Still going at 1107 UTC 3 Sep 2019. WBCQ with a low power relay?
-
Full copy here at 1351 S2
1421 Id as KIH26 Daytona/ Bumcombe Hill TX 162.400 Mhz out of Melbourne offoce

;D Dude, if U are using a SDR that could be a " birdie" also called a spur. I have that issue with my SDR and it gets worse at night when signals are strong.

Found this video on youtube for the people who think it just and sdr issue for it is not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Vpgzx2omYc

it may be a "different" type of transmitter located and being used at WBCQ but its not the usual WBCQ why ?
WBCQ is generally a few hundred hertz off frequency on all of the frequencies they are assigned (except when using their new "powerhouse" transmitter), enough that you can hear the heterodyne quite well (its usually between 100Hz to 300Hz and drifts slowly with temperature changes).
whatever is at 9.330Mhz now, is +40Hz off frequency and slowly drifting +/- 5Hz.
they use this type of older gear to "generate" the RF carrier for their high power RF/modulation transmitter in addition to using the same gear itself sometimes directly connected to their high gain antenna.
this explains why you may often hear them weak and "under-modulated" at times.

In many ways, WBCQ operates like a station with a Part 5 Experimental License 8)
Right now I have a very good SIO 444 signal on 9330.054 per my GPS locked netSDR.
I've moved the topic.

Chris, sorry if I got this one wrong. I was trying to decide if it was WBCQ but couldn't figure it out either way.

Heard here, too, with a fair signal. I've never heard anyone relay NOAA for days on end :)
-
Al - Thanks for confirming this.

Hey Dude,
Let me present an opposing view:
1) All these different people located across a wide area, all using different receivers (different manufacturers thus different designs) are hearing it. That says that it is very unlikely to be a spur generated in a receiver. These sorts of spurs tend to be particular to a certain make and model of receiver and can be location specific - it all depends upon the input IP3 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third-order_intercept_point (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third-order_intercept_point)) of the receiver circuit and the input level at the receiver input, thus a function of the the circuit, antenna, location, propagation, etc. A Sony ICF-xxxx will have a different input IP3 than a Drake, etc. and then the spurs will show up in a different place. Pretty unlikely that everybody will have the same type and level of spur.
2) It's unnecessary since WBCQ has admitted to doing it at this point, but someone could also do TDoA on the Kiwi network and if the algorithm resolves to a location, it's also very unlikely to be a spur in the Kiwi SDR.

S0 2212z ongoing wx forecast.

4-Sep-2019 GMT 0002: Barely hear it here and buried in the noise, but can tell its NOAA weather radio.

I can heard bits and pieces of the weather forecast when using USB mode as of 0024 UTC. Otherwise, too much noise to hear. Yesterday, I couldn't hear anything on 9330 at all.
-
SIO 444 here. It dropped out totally yesterday. Looking at the waterfall on my 7300 they are off frequency but a few hz as someone else mentioned. Definitely not a birdie. Several people reported hearing it on a FB group yesterday.

Timtron once told me in a phone conversation what they used as a back-up on 9330. If what he said is correct, it was old enough to have been collecting Social Security then.
