I have copied this "beacon" before and only after dark.
It sends VIEDT with the letter D having a dash almost a second long.
Frequency 268.31 Khz @ 0013 UTC CW at 400 hertz if filter.
I can now copy this guy at any setting of the if selectivity as its quite steady
Not sure if I'm copy it on upper or lower side of the carrier.
It must be an airport beacon gone wild with a bad keyer.
Anyone else copy as its coming into central Florida solid with very little fading.
Its now nestled in with another weaker beacon and I'm waiting for a fade up for it's ID.

:D VKN would be the logical guess!
I was not hearing a lot from the north that early in the evening.
Signals from the south and southwest, Cuba and Mexico coming
in well, seemed to be the best directions for signals.
I have heard several beacons in the past with stuttering ID's
so I guess your suggestion may be the best one even though
that beacon in Vermont would seem to be a long shot. The
beacons signal strength was very good being well above the
noise and with only moderate fading.
Thanks for your suggestion they are always worthwhile!
Cheers
