I just read a post from Chris talking about a maritime mobile QSO between fishermen. It made me think about how I haven't heard a marine QSO in English (Non military) for a very long time. I know there scarce, but if anyone has any suggested frequencies, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

i've heard some contacts from a sailing race this past summer including a reporter talking with one the participants. i also heard some guys on a boat near the coast of Hawaii joking around. i heard both in the 8 Mhz range.

There are not much coastal stations left that service voice comms in Enlish. Most players only use DSC on MF/HF and voice only via satellite. In Europe there are only but a few stations left sending out navigational warnings and weather reports on MF in English.

Quite a few Australian and New Zealand fishing vessels and small inter-island cargo ships around the Pacific can be heard in English on the regular 4 & 6MHz marine frequencies over this way... ;)

In Soviet times one could hear Soviet "trawlers" about 24/7 either voice or SITOR. Will have to look up where they went frequencywise.

I usually hear activity in the early morning on 6224 USB during the week. A group in Florida have a short check-in.

8.279MHz USB three American yachts cruising the far northern coast of Queensland heard chatting away for nearly an hour around 0830z, all around 5X6 to 5X8 reports.
