Title: 9032KHz aviation traffic
Post by: Looking-Glass on November 07, 2019, 0700 UTC
Surprised to hear the following on 9032 USB this evening:

IAM-4600 calling Auckland Radio with position report and weather situation in flight.

Auckland Radio responded with "Affirm when at HELGE contact Christchurch Control on 129.300."

Both 5X7 report, this used to be the Antarctic frequency, cannot find where HELGE is on flight charts, also could not find IAM-4600 on Flight Tracker or Flight Watch. Only two flights shown on Polar Route and they are LAN Chile flights.

IAM-4600 also not listed on Christchurch Airport arrivals for today, expected or previously landed.

Previously on 03 Sep 2018 flight IAM-4600 was issued to C130J Hercules military flight in Invercargill region of New Zealand.

According to my web search, Airway 338 has a series of waypoints named after explorer Amundsen's dogs (of which Helge was one).  Airway 338 is used for navigation between New Zealand and Antarctica, primarily for Operation Deep Freeze.  I was not able to find the actual position of the waypoint or the chart with the waypoint.
