Title: 8 Mc beacons Where Art thou?

Where is my old friend S8000.5 khz, it had that pulling chirp because the cap across the solar panel had seen better days.  I no long hear it.  Like an old ham friend that you used to work on the bands and now that you think about him, you begin to wonder if he is a silent key for it has been years since you heard his fist or voice tumbling though the ether. 

Then there was a very weak dasher that I only heard a hand full of times on 8000 kHz during the day time.
I keep going back to 8.0Mc hoping that someone will once again put a beacon up there.

I hadn't been up on this web site for a long time and after OK left the air I did not check its old hang out 3450 khz and yet after seeing a post up hear I dialed down on the freq. mentioned with my old SX 190
and there it was.  I haven't heard it since but odds are it will come back for a brief encounter with the ether.  Old WW has been gone a long time also and I have to go up on you tube to hear it...

The old dashers on 6700 and 4089 seems to met their fates for I have not heard them for a year or so.

I'll keep checking old 8.0 Mc with my trusty  R4B all the while hoping to hear another beacon there someday.

P.S. just old thoughts from an old radio guy.

You don't hear the 96'ers either? ???

I thought it was just crappy conditions.

I haven't head a beacon since last spring.

"F" (8261) will be back on when the weather gets warmer... I don't feel like running around on the roof in winter ;D

8 mhz is an interesting place to park the receiver.

Yesterday I heard that errant ditter (best guess on freq is 7999.90 KHz)  -  hadn't heard that for a long time; perhaps I just haven't been listening.  Heard it again briefly this morning at 1540 Z, then again at 1630Z.... Just prior to the 1630Z encounter a dead carrier with pretty good sigs on 8.0 mhz - was much stronger than the ditter, and slightly off freq.  Obviously a different tx source...

Ditter not audible at this time - 1726 Z.

I heard it too, weak but solid copy about 100 dit/min  ...
Reminds me of the beacon named "Hiker".  Very cool to hear it again.
Who ever activated this beacon, my hat off to you and thanks.
Lets name this one "Hiker" out of honor to the old Hiker.

I have got a good copy on a 2 sec dasher every 6 seconds on freq 7998 kHz
time 21:44utc very interesting.
