There has been a strong test tone on 6220khz this evening, same as the one that was on 6210khz the other day.
I noticed that thread got moved as suggested this was jamming by Iran.
Are we confident this is jamming now the frequency has changed?
edit by Ray : from UNID to jamming (and format)

on 6220.0
2049 I hear : a talking station, a Stanag, and hets.
Strangely, on daytime, the jamming hets were on 6210, disturbing LHH on 6205.

This is almost certainly not a pirate. ;D Sounds like the same tone that was on 6210.

Of course. Just disturbing the 48 m pirate band !
What's the better forum for opposition stations and jamming ?

The power levels and coverage of this signal would suggest a non-pirate origin, unless there is a pirate running hundreds of kilowatts with transmitter tower complex somewhere, and is willing to pay the electricity bill to transmit this "pleasant" test tone for many hours every day...

Just me testing my new rig🙃🙃🙃

Impressive! ... so your rig runs on nuclear?

I wish.
I notice that neither it or the lower power IRIB tx is on tonight.
-
I think but am not sure if the IRIB has moved to 6230 tonight disturbing Coast FM! Certainly something is on there that normally isn't.

I think the signal on 6230 is the same as the tone transmitter judging by the strength.

I think the signal on 6230 is the same as the tone transmitter judging by the strength.
I think you both might be right, or near the truth. All I can say, judging briefly from the current content I listened to, is that it is currently transmitting a religious speech in Arabic (not Persian) and I hear Arabic words and phrases suggesting it is about religious Shia Islam places in Iraq. I have some elementary Arabic language knowledge
It seems way too strong to be pirate, but it may be clandestine in the sense that it doesn't officially have permission to be on 6230 khz.
There has been a lot of unrest in Shia dominated Iraq... and also of course in Iran with the petrol protests.... and the fact that they cut off internet access, means that shortwave is used to circumvent internet blockades by some religious group in the middle east?

OK... it seems that there are two high power stations on 6230 khz... one broadcasting in Persian... this could be Radio Farda (sponsored by the US government) from the United Arab Emirates.... and a religious Shia station in Arabic, could be from inside Iran... the current skip zones on kiwiSDRs in the Middle East give clues to their country of origin. In Europe I can only hear the Arabic language station. These are high power stations, very high power.

At this moment yes its extremely strong on 6230. But there is now a weaker station on 6210 and this station is also heard on the twente SDR on 1395 MW. No sign of the jamming tone tonight

.... maybe, although, in my honest opinion, there is a more effective way of jamming a signal than the hetrodyne "test" tone. North Koreans transmit a white noise type signal, which is more effective with less power... than broadcasting a programme "over" a weaker signal or a test tone.
I have heard Iranian jamming of Radio Farda on Medium Wave, here in the UK, and that too was a "white noise" type jammer.
