Title: Pirate Radio's influence on the James Bond movies
Post by: Fansome on December 28, 2019, 0429 UTC
Ronan O’Rahilly, who created the offshore station Radio Caroline, apparently talked George Lazenby out of continuing as James Bond after “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. Lazenby was a "free spirit", and O'Rahilly convinced him that there was no future in a square character such as Bond.

That and Lazenby couldn't keep up with the acting standards set by Sean Connery. We don't talk about the later Bond's such as Roger Moore and the pretty boys that followed.

Sean Connery was the John Wayne of U.K. cinema, he like Wayne, could play only one character, himself. Connery loved his car in films, John Wayne loved only his horse in his movies.
