Title: Shortwave Crystal Radio
Post by: Davep on February 07, 2020, 2130 UTC
I haven't made one of these in awhile.
I used an old coil form from a 1920s TRF , and old post marked "aerial " and some misc components that are modern .
This is just a trial run to verify operation before cosmetics.
The box to the left is a LM 386 chip and power supply I use for audio to check operation before any more work . It will have its own chip eventually.
The coil is 5 winds primary ( antenna) and 9 turns secondary on a 4 inch.
Here it is pulling in WWCR sign on   Also heard WTWW playing music on 5085 , it seems to have pretty good spacing.
Dx machines they are not, but fun to build.
I am on new radio restriction, so work was after hrs on the down low

That is really cool.   8)
The "skunk works" nature of the project makes it all the more fun.   ;)
