Post by: Skipmuck on February 16, 2020, 1950 UTC
Steven Anthony Csiki, born July 19th, 1958. Passed away September 22nd, 2019, resident of Belvidere. Loving son to (Antal) Goldie (Aranka).  Loving husband of Ilona. Brother to Annamaria (John Molnar) and Michael Joseph. Uncle to John Anthony (Julie) and Cynthia Ann (Ron Kongsangobsakul) great Uncle to Treyven Kain and Kendalyn Jayde.

Steve, born in 1958, was the first child, American-born son to his Hungarian immigrant parents who escaped communist Hungary in 1956 and came to Chicago after a brief stay in Camp Kilmer, New Jersey by way of Vienna, Austria.

Steve served four years in The United States Navy as a radarman on the U.S.S. Elmer Montgomery, a fast frigate and toured the Mediterranean, Red Sea and Black Sea during 1976 until 1980 during the Carter years or Cold War era with Russia.

After coming home from his service and honorable discharge, Steve found employment at Chicago Cutting Die Company working with his father, Tony (Antal). After his employment there, Steve found employment via T & H Lemont in Lincolnwood, IL, later Countryside, IL first working in the shop then achieving the IT computer specialist finally for over 30 years. Steve enjoyed membership in the Hungarian (Magyar) Club in Chicago.

Steve married his sweetheart, Ilona on December 26th, 1987 which he many times stated was the happiest day of his life.

His interests were short wave radio, computers and photography. He loved taking his wife Ilona to area conservatories and state parks.

Steve will be dearly missed by his wife, Ilona; his mother, Goldie (Aranka); brother, Michael Csiki; sister, Anna Maria Molnar; nephew John (Julie) ; niece, Cynthia (Ron Kongsangobsakul); great nephew, Treyven; and great niece, Kendalyn.

He is preceded in death by his father, and a brother-in-law, John.

I guess we all missed this.....  :'(

It was sad to read the news in the chat. I didn't interact directly much with Byteborg but he seemed like a nice and knowledgeable SWLer. Godspeed. You and your family are in my thoughts.

Don't kick yourself, Skipmuck. I was gorked out of my brain on painkillers from a car wreck during September and early October. Seizure at 70 mph, I showed that phone pole who was boss.

Have you talked to Byteborg's wife, Skipmuck, to see how she's holding up?
