Title: Dipping toes into SW
Post by: swnicholasj on August 11, 2020, 1436 UTC
Hi folks, first post.
I'm using an old Sony ICF SW07 and loop aerial Sony AN LP2. This seems to work okay but I live quite north (near Glasgow, Scotland) but also I'm just at sea level. I appreciate this may not be too bad for SW listening but is there anything I can do to to improve reception!should the loop face horizontally or vertically? Does it matter either way?
Cheers

Do you have the option of an outdoor antenna?

I could probably fix one on the roof/chimney stack. 🤔

You'll want something LONG!

Run a wire out from the chimney out as far as you can and insulate the far end, would work well. Don't rely on an indoor antenna as all you'll pick up is NOISE!
