I've been watching the playoffs, and I am very puzzled by something: why haven't they brought back the Fox "Glow Puck"? It was probably the most important innovation to hockey since the sport was invented.

*crickets*

I'd ask when will hockey season finally be over, but it will just start again about 2 weeks later.

Class action lawsuit from the Epilesy Group put a stop to the lighted puck due to all the triggered claims - same guys who also tried to ban caesar salad from all menus.

Actually, the Glow Pucks are still there; they simply operate differently. To enable precise tracking of the puck by rafter-mounted detectors, the LEDs in the pucks had to be run far above their ratings, and this resulted in a very short operational life. Consequently, these LEDs quickly became DEDs (dark emitting diodes - see http://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,7051.0.html). The engineers quickly realized that they had the whole design paradigm ass-backwards. Instead of tracking an illuminated puck, it would be far easier to track the dark of an ice cold chunk of black rubber.
As soon as all the detectors are converted to Dark Detectors we will all be able to enjoy Fox Trails once again.

Dear Chris: can we get an upvote/like on the board feature? I would like to give jFarley an upvote for that superb answer ;-)

I would suggest that they invent a puck that will enter the goal a second time before the third overtime. ..............to be used during week-night games for those of us that have to go to work the next day.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...oh sorry, what was I saying zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Ok, I've got another theory - they keep forgetting to put new batteries in the pucks before each game?

Hockey? The stuff you step in out by the barn?
