Title: Radio Balaklava CW test 6925 03:49z-04:01z 06-08-12
Post by: Sealord on June 08, 2012, 1148 UTC
Recorder catch:

6925 (rx in USB) SIO 333

Decent signal with some fading.  Noticed these going through my recording this morning: four short tx’s with the same pattern of dits & dahs.  The first three are spaced ~ 2 mins apart with the fourth ~ 7mins later.

That was me...doing some more testing. First message was to my friend, Bob, asking him to go to another frequency to chat. Others were to test antenna installation. Was considering using Radio Balaklava as name for my station which I'm planning to put on the air soon....pending the arrival of some equipment I'm waiting for. Have since decided to use the name Blue Ocean Radio instead as it's less likely to give away my location and is descriptive of the view out my front window. So, for any more testing I may do, I will be ID'ing with "Blue Ocean Radio". My 'nom de plume' on air will be "Johnny Oaktree".....a rough translation of my real name from the Russian. You heard it first on HFU. Best regards to all.

The CW was also caught here on a recorder catch, at apparently good level.  I did not fully decode it, but the chars I know jive with Dimbulb's account.

Thanks lightkeeper!

Also noted here on the SDR recording. Did you transmit on some other days as well? i noticed some CW in the SDR recording waterfalls, but never checked into it, I assumed it was a ute or out of band ham.

It could have been me on CW, yes. I have done a few tests the last couple of days just to make sure everything is working.
