This is so sad. All I can say is that I hope he gets the help he so obviously and desperately needs.

Oh, Hope, why so mope (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NikAAJ_W7Mk)?

That may be mope, but I wouldn't call it rock. Just looks to be a bunch of emos (as opposed to emus...).

'Honeymoon Suite' gets an honorable mention.

I dunno, I think it's the Rainy-Day makeup that does it for me

Maybe sleep rock or relaxed rock. Relaxed like our old friend Perry. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_aOo2Ubplg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_aOo2Ubplg)
Vandenberg only achieved mope status when Adrian realized their hair metal ballad Burning Heart was about as good as it was gonna get. "oh fook, somebody ring up Coverdale for me"

I told my kid,the source of the current Cure invasion of my house, that the first time I saw them, circa 1980,Smith hadn't discovered make-up and wore regular clothes. I was confronted with a stare of disbelief.
Their music was a post punk industrial sound in those days. When I heard them a year or so later I couldn't believe it was the same band? (The same with The Gang of Four in roughly the same era, grinding
post-punk minimalism in '79/'80,drum machines and synths by '82.)
Still the Cure's debut album,"Three Imaginary Boys",was and is in my top 50. Great album.
