Title: Technical problem puts WWCR on 6430
Post by: Zoidberg on January 30, 2009, 0903 UTC
1/30/09, 0855 UTC: Apparently a technical glitch at WWCR booted the Alex Jones show from the usual 3215 kHz frequency in this time slot to 6430 kHz AM.  Normal audio and signal strength with expected QRM from utes in this band.  I'd noticed around 0800z that audio suddenly dropped on 3215 kHz, but Rik on IRC (#swl) noticed the odd appearance of WWCR on 6430 (double 3215) while scanning for utes.  (N. Central TX)
0907 UTC: After top-of-hour ID for WWCR, Alex Jones show reappeared on usual 3215 kHz freq while continuing in simulcast on 6430 kHz (no delay, confirmed via separate receivers).  3215 weaker than usual, fading between S1-S5, while 6430 S9.  Odd.

Starting to wonder whether this is a technical problem or deliberate.  WWCR again on 6430 AM tonight, simulcasting 3215, good signal and audio since 0600 UTC.  Some ute QRM, to be expected on this band.
