Title: History of WLIR
Post by: PXR-5 on December 28, 2021, 2203 UTC
If anyone here lived in the NYC metro area during the 70s, and 80s you will remember the alternative programming of WLIR, (Long Island Radio) 92.7 MHz.

The first American station to embrace "New Wave / Punk" music. Only 50K watts, and drowned out by the major NY commercial stations.
The FCC shut it down in 1987.

The story is being told on the Showtime TV network.
Highly recommend.
