Hi Paul,

You are right! Radio Vanuatu is currently not being heard through my last check on July 23, on any of their known frequencies.

It was on July 14, that I last heard them on 7260 kHz.:

0630 UT: Island songs

0655-0701: Commercial announcements, PSAs (COVID & mental health), promo for listening to BBCWS in Port Vila, on 104 FM, etc.

0701-0719: News in Bislama.

0757: ID "Radio Vanuatu, Vois Blong Yumi"; 0801: local time given - "7 o'clock."

When last heard, Radio Vanuatu was no longer on 3945 kHz. (with harmonics 7890 // 11835) from 0559+ UT,
but instead stayed on 7260 kHz. Hope they return to the air before too long!!

July 29 - As usual, thanks to Manuel for the timely alert in WOR iog! Radio Vanuatu back on the air again,
but not as well as was formerly heard; 1003-1017 UT, news in Bislama on fundamental frequency of 3945
(best heard, with some ham QRM) and  2nd harmonic of 7890 (2nd best reception) and 3rd harmonic of
11835, which was totally unusable; 1031-1102, ending their broadcasting day with the usual preaching
and religious (Christian) songs; 1104*, ending with the distinctive National Anthem (titled: "Yumi,
Yumi, Yumi"  ["We, We, We" in English]).

"Yumi, Yumi, Yumi"? Wasn't that a hit for the Archies back about 1969? What have those missionaries done to these people?

He was probably referring to "Yummy Yummy Yummy" by Ohio Express.  Sounds similar to The Archies tune.

That was it, Refmo. It's hard to recall bad songs over decades and keep them straight. Luckily, we've got an old Archies fan to keep us on the straight and narrow.

God, we're old.
