That's a looong haul.
I had an Aunt and Uncle who lived in Melbourne for the better part of a decade. They didn't have to pay taxes so the phone calls were always on them. I loved being at my Mom's house when my Aunt would call. You could hear both ends of the conversation as they thought they had to be loud to be heard that far away.

That's a good memory. :D You didn't have to pick up the other line in the house to listen in on the conversation. ;)

As loud as they were, they could have opened the windows and forgot about the phone.
