I'll need to see how that is here. Denver is well within KMOX's nighttime range but in recent years it's been pretty hard to come by. A new, daytime-only station has set up shop on the same frequency blasting 50 kW of Catholic radio from Limon, Colorado. They do sign off at night but sometimes I wonder if KMOX has set up some kind of protection in this direction to keep from interfering. It doesn't make sense of course, they're one of the original clear channel stations, but something should explain why it's as poor as eastern clear channel broadcasters that can't reach us, the same way KOA 850 can't reach them.

This was a test with a new toy, H501x - I'm impressed.

AFAIK, 50kw KMOX has one tower with an omnidirectional pattern day and night.
Its signal really booms in here most evenings, have even logged it on the xtal set.
Perhaps this is due to the excellent soil conductivity at the TX site (btw, which is
actually across the river in Illinois).
