Title: Taking the SDR plunge
Post by: rdla4 on April 11, 2013, 0027 UTC
I just ordered an RF Space SDR IQ today. Hope to have it in place Monday. This may push the o;d Panasonic RF4900 off the DX Desk

Nice!!  Congrats, I hope you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying my new Afedri.  We expect a full report once you get it.

How do you like the Afedri? Been watching that one for a while.

Hi Skeezix,

I only have my hf transciever to compare it to, but so far its proven to be a great performer for it's cost.  To get lan connectivity at this price is pretty impressive.  My ole knwd ts 870 has a sweet rcvr and with the little comparing I've done, I give the knwd an edge, but it should be better I suppose, it was nearing the $3,000 mark when new.

So, I'd say for $250, it's quite a good value.

Well, I have had this since Monday. I am still getting used to tuning around with the thing. I have been using the stock SpectraVue, SDR-radio, CuteSDR and SDR#.

I have not really settled on which one I like the best.

The cool thing----seeing that swath of spectrum, and being able to go there quickly! The poor old Sat 800 has been off for the first time in several years!
