BTW, someone played Eduard Khil's Trololo song a few minutes before. Audio sounded like that of WANK, so maybe that was a brief warm up

The Sonics were actually a pretty good band that was poorly produced early in their career. Lenny Kaye had their song "Psycho" on one of his early "Nuggets" collection. It was recorded with a unidirectional mic suspended from the studio ceiling about 8 ft. above the band and sounded like it. The first flowering of the "Seattle Sound", circa 1965, dontcha know? "Psycho" got a lot of airplay in the Pacific Northwest.
