Title: 2130 & 2150 KHz Russian Railway Dispatch Channels
Post by: mrk on September 30, 2013, 1856 UTC
Not too sure if this would be the correct sub-forum for this post, but here it is anyway.

Wondering if anyone out there has any audio recordings of this system?  Even in the day with VHF/microwave or GSM-R the HF band is still used on trains in Russia.

I am curious to see if anyone out there has any recordings of the trains or dispatchers talking....and also if any photos exist of the radio equipment used.  New equipment is probably used as new locomotives are rolling off the factory floor with HF antennas on the roof...as a similar trainset from Romania seen here:

Being from the states, the use of HF for rail communications interests me as it is so different than what is used here.  There are many audio and video postings on the net about US railroad radio communications, but a lack of information on the Russian system.

Best regards...

HF on trains? :o

I'm imagining a 60-year-old tube radio in that shiny new train ;D

Mind you, if the trains travel the Steppe, it would be reasonable as an Iridium comm system could be spotty and bloody expensive!

Peace!

That would make sense for their trains out there. And I'd love to hear some of those recordings too.

Here in the US, HF can't be used for that kind of thing. VHF and above.
