Since the topic briefly came up just recently, I thought I might point out that there's a nice article in the RadioReference wiki on this topic. Not only does it have lots of links to popular models, there's links to reviews, software support, digital decoding packages that work with some SDRs, and more.

Come in off the ledge, Al. There are plenty of old regens for sale on the internet. You could shut down SDR's for miles around with a few of those.
