6970 khz AM Carrier is 30 dBM above the noise floor here but the audio is too weak to make an ID here
Not getting any better here - can tell it is mostly talking.
Huh, This would be my first Clandestine if I could get an ID - I hope this does not attract Chinese or N Korean jamming to this band!
Interesting ByteBORG - Listed as Radio Free Asia .1kw from Taiwan .. or SOH relay of same?
-
I am pretty sure this is a Chinese clandestine, possibly Sound of Hope?
-
Weak on the west coast...maybe S3 on the FT-2000. Sounds Korean or some other Oriental language. Sound of Hope would be a good bet. Definitely not a pirate though.
-
0145z I am hearing it pretty well at s5-6
0200z Time pips /off
Interesting, it does sound Chinese or Korean, my suspicions are in that order...
-
0154 - Only a carrier here, with occasional unintelligible speech
No jamming.
0159 - Time pips marking the hour.
Have logged this before.
SHORT-WAVE.info and AOKI lists this as Chinese language with 0.1 kilowatts,
although that is very, very suspect, if not downright impossible.
Like someone famous once said "Believe in Propagation, not what the listing says"

Yes, 0.1 MW seems much more likely :-)
I've had both 6870 and 6970 on my overnight SDR recordings for the last few weeks, generally a few hours before sunrise here, which is when there would be a nice dark path to China.
