Title: Buzzy tones 13878 kHz (sometimes 7478 kHz)
Post by: Dag on February 22, 2015, 1456 UTC
I hear a strong buzzing signal on 13878 kHz at 1453 Z. It has repetitive nature with what sounds like 3 or 4 bursts per second. I've heard the same signal at night on 7478 kHz. I have heard these signals for the past week weeks without any apparent change in the tones or any ID.

The 13878 kHz signal is s7 on an attic dipole.

What is this signal?

Without either a screenshot of the signals spectrum or an audio recording any answer is going to be a guess, at best.

I believe what you are talking about is probably a spur from a Cuban jammer, I know I have seen it active on 7478 kHz in the recent past.

You may be right. At 2159z both frequencies were quiet. At 2200z, 7478 kHz fired up it's buzzy tones which corresponds to the start time of Radio Marti on 7405 kHz.
