I stumbled on this while going through the SDR recordings. At first I thought it was just MARS, but it turned out to be an American EE OM with a 30 character message, starting with WSC34N, and closed with "this is 8 Echo Yankee, out". The 30 characters were sent as 5 groups of 6 characters, letters and numbers.
It did have a bit of a .mil feel to it, but certainly not the typical MARS traffic. Any ideas?
A different EE OM at 0720, another 30 character message starting with WSC34N but different characters. Also signed 8 Echo Yankee.
The number "5" sounded a lot like "Fife". They did use Foxtrot, so it was a 5 and not an F.
Another? OM back at 0750. Also, the "3" sounded a lot like "tree". Off at 0755.

Chris,
There was an exercise yesterday on multiple frequencies, Andrews was simulated destroyed in the afternoon (the announcement went out on 11175). These other stations were basically sending many EAMs an hour on many frequencies. Each frequency seemed to be assigned to a different operator. If you listened closely you could sometimes hear other ops in the background of some transmissions, and sometimes the voice of an instructor or superior possibly correcting the op.

Thanks, Token!

Thanks, Chris and Token. I heard similar (including simultaneous activity) in background, but missed announcement--was on 8992.
Have a kid interning at government facility there right now, so between geopolitical situation right now, NOTAMS etc., I am afraid to minimize if I don't hear "exercise," especially with high traffic for several weeks now.
I appreciate the information.

While in the Navy, when I was sending messages over the radio, they told me to pronounce 5 as "fife" and 3 as "tree"... So you are right, ChrisSmol.
