Title: JVC & Kenwood Merger

JVC (Japan Victor Company) and Kenwood said Monday that they plan to become
one company by October 1 this year.
The two Japanese audio equipment makers will combine to form JVC Kenwood
Holdings, which will be based in Yokohama, near Tokyo.

The potential implications of this for Kenwood's amateur radio division are
anybody's guess.

Kenwood's amateur business has been in decline for a long time, anyways. The last HF model they introduced was in 2003, which was the TS-480. I own one of these, and it is absolutely fantastic. But not a single model HF model has followed on since then. I hope they stay in the amateur market, but things look... not so good.
