~0115z slid up to 6955
0118z wx "Sat Night Oldies Goldies Show"
0119z "You Should Be Dancing'
0123z WABC ID? [WOW, I remember hearing Top 40 on 770 with Cousin Brucie!] very fluttery/noisy now
0147z ID w/wx
0153z "Play That Funky Music" [Just hearing the jingle makes me remember my childhood in NJ... WABC was EVERYWHERE!!!]
0211z "My Boomerang Won't Come Back"
0216z DEEP FADE here!!!
0219z ID w/wx
0220z "Bad Time" Grand Funk Railroad
0223z "Real Men of Radio" LOL!!!
0227z ID "Where the Good Guys Are"

s4-7 flutter & static

***NOTE: WABC-FM turned into WPLJ-FM 95.5 & was a leading R&R station... WABC-AM 770 has been a talk radio station for well over 25 years so Top 40's are really old recordings
I just pulled out my old AMBC logbook... WABC-AM went talk in mid-1982 [with the Father of Talk, Bob Grant RIP]...
The Day the Music Died 5/10/1982 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toms8m8EP8Q
Harry Harrison, Ron Lundy & Cousin Brucie were great DJs during the later years of Top 40 at WABC... Many wrapped up their careers at other FM stations
I still remember their "Put It in a Window" campaign to get people to do it & improve their reception

S9 and good audio. Occasional quick fades but sounding very good.
Seems to be playing an old show from WABC circa 1977 or so (or maybe mid-90's from some of the ads).
HSmith, I agree - back when AM was fun to listen to...
Still [!] there - S9 at 0239 with "I Still Miss Someone" by Johnny Cash
Marathon broadcast, still S7 @ 0343 with "Jailhouse Rock".
0405 - Looney tunes 'That's All Folks' then "Happy Trails" and off @ 0406.

Thanks for the great show - nicely done!.

S8 nice signal and nice audio with oldies, Bud Light parody ad, old WABC jingles.  Nice show, thanks!

EDIT: Slid up to 6955 at 0117z.

"AM 1610" reference at 0130z?  Also heard references to XM radio in the programming, Neely Henry Lake, mentions of Ashville, AL., time checks that are two minutes off from the current time.  Interesting show and likely not just some old WABC Top 40 show being replayed.

A few minutes ago I was hearing a great signal here and then I came back and it was gone was enjoying the music! A excellent signal here in Western South Carolina! Good to hear WABC tonight with some good music at 01:30UTC  with plenty of IDs and Chicken Man! Signal over a plus 10 here. This has been very entertaining to listen to this program tonight some great music and good dee jay work! Signal has been excellent tonight too! Well there is a town called Asheville Alabama but WABC has been a radio station for over 80 years in New York City! So someone has spent some time producing this program tonight maybe on a Reel to Reel tape recorder, I use to do something like this when I was really young! This took some time!! Great show with commercials too. Fun Radio! Nice job tonight! Signal tonight stay strong all evening unbelievable I have not heard a program that could continue to propagate so well in the evening! One heck of a show!

Dec 5, on 6955 AM, from 0122 to 0219; programming of WABC (yes,
maybe a mixture with something else?); "from our studios on beautiful
Neely Henry Lake" (Alabama), with weather by "meteorologists James
Spann from the ABC 33/40 weather center".

My audio - https://app.box.com/s/wt5iewwkgad0jufazvorvswlr9majg8r  .

Ron, listening at Asilomar State Beach, California

BTW - James Spann is still at ABC 33/40 ( http://abc3340.com/weather )!!

Hi, new guy here, first post.  In fact, it was the Russ Knight-faux WABC show last night that brought me here.   It's been years since I actively searched for pirates and I guess I've been a victim of Brother Stair overload ;-)    I've got lots of vintage receivers but lately have been doing most of my HF listening with the Airspy SDR with SDR# software using the new Spyverter HF converter that (full disclosure) I helped design.  The advantage of having a waterfall display is really significant when  you consider that last night at least two pirates were on at the same time.    And since SDR# makes it easy to record audio or spectrum, I grabbed a few snippets and have posted them in MP3 for for anyone who couldn't hear this 3 hour program live:

 http://www.filedropper.com/russknightshow1
 http://www.filedropper.com/russknightshow2
 http://www.filedropper.com/wabcpiratesign-offfull_1

The signal strength was excellent here in Illinois - typically a 40-45dB signal to noise ratio better-than-usual AM quality with the sync detector and a bit of DNR to take out the hiss.  As a huge fan of the Top 40 radio era I'm hoping for future programs.   The talent and production values of this show were high enought it could air on any commercial oldies station.   Although I suppose WABC would take issue with someone using those great old PAMS jingles...

73, Bob W9RAN

This seems to have been this guy. http://www.440int.com/_rknigh.html (http://www.440int.com/_rknigh.html)

From what I gather, he died in 2006.

Whoever was airing this, has a quite the powerful transmitter. I was very impressed.
