Looping funk/soul music among the DX pileup. Actually sounded pretty good, too.

27285 is CB channel 28, one of the high power "AM DX" channels, companion to channel 26 (27265).  Other high power AM CB frequencies include channel 6 - The Superbowl (27025), channel 11 - the original AM calling channel back when CB required licenses and was only 23 channels - channel 11 being 27085.  People will run high power on any of the 40 channels (and above and below the legal band, of course), but 6, 11, 26 and 28 are the big ones...which makes it that much more interesting that people are transmitting music over all the other signals on a heavily used frequency.

Sadly, music on the typical 11m CB frequencies often is QRM to annoy others instead of what we would call "pirate radio."

That said, one can stumble across an occasional pirate radio broadcast on 11m CB. Case in point from a few days ago....

Typical comments about 11m operators aside, I (as a teenager) admittedly used to regularly talk on channels 6, 11, and 26 back in the 1990s. I will digress on the wattage involved, though it involved a high-power radio driving a solid state amp driving a tube amp. o.0
