Title: XFM 6875/6870 AM 0112 UTC 24 Sep 2016
Post by: refmo on September 24, 2016, 0115 UTC
Signing on.  S9 with utility QRM on the upper sideband.
0117 - moved to 6870khz.  Excellent bass, sounds like he runs some heavy metal in that transmitter.
0127 - S8 to S9 with Redhat talking.  Got away from the original utility QRM, but now some Stanag has popped up on 6870 USB.
0211 - shoutouts.  Sounding good on the Kenwood - S9.  Can't get rid of the noise on the SDR.
0323 - S9+ and sounding good, but gotta call it a night.  Thanks for the show!

S7 over the static and lighting up the Pilot Stereo indicator.  Looking forward to show!

0210: Unfortunately the static is overcoming the signal here now.  Also someone on 6870 usb disrupting things at the moment.

0121 dance music, S9+20 signal with some occasional slight fades, SIO 555
0123 Redhat on the mic, last song was called "Somewhere." Mentioned last being on in early July, had technical issues with amp.
0127 Redhat gave email, xfmshortwave@gmail.com
0131 "Killing Moon" Echo and the Bunnymen.
0136 XFM the power of X. Redhat introduces next song which is "Ice Cream" by Beca
0141 Redhat, into "Heathens" Twenty One Pilots
0144 "New Skin" Incubus *
0148 "Emergency on Planet Earth" Jamiroquai *
0152 Redhat back on the mic. Talking about the various different reception experiences being reported, may change frequencies. Recapped music already played. (Signal suddenly started doing rapid fades at this point.)
0156 REM "Wolves, Lower" Thanks for playing my request Redhat!
0200 XFM ID into "Float" Switchfoot *
0204 Redhat introducing track, "Desire" Meg Myers
0209 XFM ID, Redhat with email address. Talking about equinox, how it only meant winter was coming when he was a kid. Not a fan of winter, eh? :)
Continues with HFU shoutouts. Mentions it's an election year. (Signal is dropping again.) More shoutouts, I think from Free Radio Cafe from page two of this thread.
0217 "Annie" Neon Indian (signal back to full strength)
0221 XFM ID into "Young and Unafraid" The Moth & The Flame * (signal's dropped out again, at times fading out almost completely before coming back a little)
0224 XFM ID, music faint. Signal S1, can't shazam song.
0228 Hearing the last part of "The Trees" by Rush. Signal is still rough.
0232 Signal seems to be back. Or propagation is cooperating. Song is "Another Life" GusGus *
0235 "Tom Sawyer" Rush
0239 "Squeeze Box" The Who
0242 Redhat back, someone requested Lou Reed. (signal faded, hard to follow everything he's saying.) HFU shoutouts. Set recap.
0246 signal below noise floor, but new song can be heard. Did hear Redhat say Kurt Vile.
0252 signal lost. I think the band closed on me.

* shazamed

Thanks for the show Redhat!

Utility station around the same frequency is just clobbering everything, only way I can hear anything is switch the radio over to LSB. Music sounds good though, what I can hear of it.

Catching XFM on 6870 at a S9 and good audio playing Meg Meyer and talking about the start of Fall at 0210. Thanks for the shout out! How about something by Lou Reed? Signal up to 5 over S9 at 0221, stronger than WRMI on 6855! Sounding really good! Thanks Redhat!

tuned in at 0211, good/fair sig with light static, excellent audio, talk about election season, nice music selections, RF-4900 & dipole. PS: hear occasional moaning QRM which an emailer to XFM mentioned. (edit) to the clown doing the moaning QRM, if you're reading this please go away. I don't want to hear your moaning.

Hearing the sign off song now at 04:02, booming in now at s9+

Enjoyed the show and playing with my new antenna. Thank you.

Thought it was a relay at first, because of the freq, so I set the recorder...
Clearly it was live since RH mentioned the political season & I saw his post here...

It was an s7-8 here at original shack with beverage/loop combo...

Thanks for the show RH!!!

0106 - faint carrier first noted on 6875 kHz
0340 - faded out or QRT at about this time
never got any good audio here, carrier only, at best...

SDR recording catch. A good signal, but unfortunately right below a UTE that caused quite a bit of QRM, so mostly an SIO 422 to 411.

caught the whole show on an sdr catch (sdriq and a pixel active magnetic loop).  pretty close to noise level at first, but slowly built where station IDs and bs were understandable.  quite a bit of qrn here and propagation between me and XFM wasn't all that great last night on the san juan islands in nw wa.

thanks for the show!  i look forward to hearing you again with better condx.
