Have a CW station on 8.700MHz CW just sending a load of gibberish/muddled CW with mixed letters and numbers on and off for past 30 minutes between 0840-0925z between 539 and 559 report here.
Often sends EER EER EER EET EET EET amongst other weird odds and ends. Just continuous, no pause for other stations to call so one way transmission.
Any one know what this is? Maybe a ships operator with an apprentice practicing CW? ::)

Got a recording? It is not going to be a spy station, but maybe with a bit more detail we can figure out what it is. There are several possible stations on or around that freq.

Hello Token, sorry, no recording facilities this way, good CW fist but sending utter gibberish. The 8MHz band over this way is always full of surprises... ;D

NIMA Pub117, 2005 "Radio Navigation Aids" lists Hua-lien (XSY) on 8700kHz (A1A) but the 2014 edition has no listing for this station.
This maybe related that Typhoon 20W (Megi) passed over Taiwan in the last day or so.
NSNL 146 (November 2009) under "Utility round-up" "Unid CW stations" the added note suggests: "8700 kHz is a Russian military net"
