Title: 6849 USB, English language QSO
Post by: Zoidberg on June 15, 2008, 1140 UTC
6849 USB, 0850 UTC, Sunday, 6/15/08, English language QSO, two men. After 0900z, woman's voice heard.  Didn't sound like official military comms or hams, possibly maritime?  Weak, under static crashes. Data nearby, closer to 6845 kHz.  (Fort Worth, TX)

I sometimes hear fishermen around this freq, though usually closer to 6860. Did they have Boston /New England accents?

Their accents (at least two men, one woman) sounded fairly neutral.  Not the typical Gulf Coast accents I usually hear between 6200-7000 in out-of-band maritime comms.  And the overall style wasn't like military comms, amateur radio, official civilian maritime or entirely informal chatter.

Pacific fishing fleet off of British Columbia can be very chatty in this range.

Peace!
