Title: 21 January, 2017, spin around some beacons
Post by: Token on January 22, 2017, 0536 UTC
I had to be up early for work today, so I thought I would start the day before I left checking some beacons.  And then when work canceled it turned into how many beacons can I hear in a day?  First tune was 1220z, last one I counted was 2250z, so a bit over 10 hours from first to last.

Listed in frequency ascending order, not time of reception.

2008.41 kHz, 1222z, unnamed beacon (active for several years now, but not sure if it has ever been reported here), cycles on and off, when on one 0.19 sec dit every 2.89 sec, or about 21 per minute.  This is NOT the same as the beacon on the "active" list, or if it is the same beacon the cycle changed a couple of years ago, that one had a .86 sec long dash.

2016.7 kHz, 1245z, unnamed beacon (active for several years now, but not sure if it has ever been reported here), cycles on and off, when on about 0.15 sec dit about every 0.88 sec, or about 68 per second.  Was very weak this morning and never caught more than one or two dits at a time, in the past was more clear.

2097.3 kHz, 1224z, A Beacon

4070.33 kHz, 1228z, ZN Beacon

4070.38 kHz, 1240z, GT Beacon

4095.76 kHz, 1556z, Viking

4096.06 kHz, 1804z, I think unnamed beacon, about a 6.8 second long dash about every 10.5 seconds, very pronounced chirp on the leading edge of the dash.

4096.37 kHz, 1233z, Haystack

4174.8 kHz, 1254z, Z beacon

5824.5 kHz, 1815z, unnamed beacon, this is one of several unnamed beacons that have been active for several years in the 5824 area, but only heard this one today, not sure if it has ever been reported here.  Dit about 0.19 second long sent about every 3.75 second, or about 16 per second.

6626.5 kHz, 1811z, possibly Rainy beacon, but timing was slightly off so not 100% sure it was not the unnanmed beacon near the same frequency.

6626.58 kHz, 1811z, Rocky Beacon

6700.4 kHz, 1815z, Hexy2K beacon

7000.74 kHz, 1821z, Stumpy beacon.  This beacon varies the time between dits over time, not sure if it is temperature related or something else.  Today, and at this time, it was a 0.125 sec long dit every 16.1 seconds, but I have seen much longer and much shorter times between dits.

7998.74 kHz, 2250z, Shorty beacon

That was all the unlicensed beacons heard for today, also heard a lot of Russian single letter beacons, but if I post them that will be a separate post.

T!

Good value there Token, have noted some for monitoring at this end.  ;D
